Our Awesome Team

Marama Vryer

Centre Manager, Bachelor of Education (Primary), with Graduate Diploma (ECE).
‘I began my early childhood journey in 2006 not long after qualifying as a primary teacher. I completed my graduate diploma in early childhood education at Bethlehem Tertiary Institute and soon after was offered a permanent teaching position and my passion flourished. I was lucky enough to be surrounded by exceptional teachers who inspired me to grow and develop as a teacher. As my passion grew I began to dream of one day opening a centre of my own. Little did I know that I would one day get the opportunity to turn my dream into a reality. And not only that I would get to do it with my family along for the ride. I am beyond excited about this wonderful adventure we are embarking on and I cannot wait to share my dream with our new children and their families.

Katie Bell

Bachelor of Education (ECE)

Hi, my name is Katie. I have been teaching in Early Childhood for 10 years and have two boys of my own. I believe it is important to develop strong relationships with children and their families to support a foundation of love and belonging within the centre. Every child is an individual and learns in different ways. I love to build upon children’s strengths and interests in an environment that is safe, stimulating, and exciting for them to explore and learn to their fullest potential.

Nicole Bull

I have my Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) and a Graduate Diploma in ECE teaching, and join the Kaleidoscope team with six years experience. Respectful practice and building strong, trusting relationships for learning underpin my teaching. My husband and I are enjoying life with our three young boys in the sunny Bay.

Jess Smith

Kia ora, I’m Jess. I have recently graduated from the University of Waikato with a Bachelor of Education (ECE). Whanaungatanga and respectful relationships with children and their whānau are foremost to my practice, which I believe form the foundation for learning to be nurtured. Originally from Whanganui, I have been living in Tauranga since 2015. I am excited to begin my teaching journey here at Kaleidoscope in the preschool room.

Sean Quinn

Kia ora, my name is Sean, and I have been involved in teaching and education for 18 years. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree (History), a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Primary), and a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Early Childhood). I have been teaching in early childhood for six years and really enjoy it ! I feel lucky to be involved with teaching at such an integral part of children’s lives. Inquiry based teaching and learning is a strength of mine, and it brings a smile to my face to see children explore, question, and problem find/solve their world. My wife and I are often outdoors on the weekend, in the garden, cooking, on a walk, or busy being parents!

Jenni Jay

Hello, my name is Jenni and I am one of the toddler teachers here at Kaleidoscope. I have been teaching for nearly 2years now having completed a Graduate Diploma in ECE through Waikato University in 2018. Prior to teaching I worked as a Registered Nurse for 19 years with the last 12 years of this spent working as a Paediatric Nurse across several specialty areas. I am passionate about working alongside young children and their families to provide a service that recognises each child as being a unique competent learner ready to discover the world around them. I believe in forming loving respectful relationships where children and their families feel a sense of belonging at the Centre. In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with my family and friends and getting away for mini breaks in our caravan.

Annabel Glenn

Hello! I’m Annabel. I have recently graduated from the University of Waikato with a Bachelor of Education (ECE). I am the youngest of four and grew up on a sheep and beef farm in the Waikato. I currently have two nephews and two nieces, and my sister is due to have a baby in the next few months, which is very exciting! I moved to the beautiful Bay of Plenty with my partner in 2018 to start my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I have always loved children. My mum has always told me that from the minute I could talk, I would ask for a new baby for every birthday and Christmas, and she would often walk past my bedroom, and I would have them all lined up “taking the roll” I think I was always destined to be an early childhood teacher! I’m incredibly passionate about young children and believe that we have one of the most important jobs as early childhood educators because our little people are so valuable. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family and am also very passionate about health and fitness. I’m really looking forward to spending my days alongside your children here at Kaleidoscope.
